I must say Silvermine Beach Resort is looking much better under new management. This Cinderella coach (which is inexplicably towing a sleigh) is really pretty.

Not sure about the decorated paddle boat, though. But at least they're making an effort.

A Mui Wo Christmas

I waylaid Santa as he was on his way to deliver sweets to the old folks' home in the village – on his bicycle, of course.

 Kit at the Village Bakery has fresh mince and pumpkin pies and gingerbread cookies.

At first I thought, well that's a funny place to sit, wouldn't the beach be better? Turns out that they were doing an audit of the public transport. On Christmas Day.

You'd have thought he'd have melted by now...

Frosty the snow man

Had to hurry on his way,

But he waved goodbye saying,

"Don't you cry,

I'll be back again some day."

Not in Mui Wo, it seems. Here, Frosty stays beyond the 12 days of Christmas, possibly thanks to the La Nina effect.

Workshop Christmas party

Why do they hold these things on weekdays when I can't attend? :(

I so wanted to go for the charity concert at Cheung Sha too but it was on a Friday – when I was busy earning enough to keep Buffalo Wilbur in espressos.

Anyway, for those who can go, the Workshop X'mas Party is on Thursday, December 22, 2-5pm, with a gift exchange at 4.30pm. The Workshop is in Chung Hau village. Bet the party will be fun!

What's for Xmas dinner?

Christmas really does sneak up on you, doesn't it? Usually, we forget all about booking dinner anywhere and by the time we get round to it, all the restaurants are fully booked.

Pui O Delicious

Pui O Delicious isn't having any fancy menu – Lewis said the last time they tried, it didn't get a good response – but their Set Course B looks pretty festive. Or you can just go for their teppanyaki ala carte. Their phone umber is 2984-2298.

Christmas, village style

Mui Wo doesn't have the neons and flashing lights like Central does. But its residents certainly know how to make the place look festive. Wang Tong village is especially pretty after its village-decorating day.

Hong Kong really is beautiful when the smog clears and you can see all the lights up for the season. This is the view from the Star Ferry from Tsim Sha Tsui, enroute to catching the Mui Wo ferry home.
