Tap Tap at Pui O
As promised, we tried out the new tapas bar in Pui O, opened on the site of the former Pui O Delicious.
They're still in the midst of fine-tuning their menu. Here's a look at what's available. It's a pity that they don't have paella for two because that was the one we were most attracted to.The quality was good but prices a bit steep.
The olives and water were free. The bread and homemade tomato sauce was HK$25 a serving.
I wish I could say we tried more of their tapas because lots of things on the menu looked yummy - but that's all we could afford. It's probably the kind of place that's best frequented in a group so you can share more of the nibbles.
The bill came to HK$210. We had to go back to Mui Wo and fill up on bread from Kit's Village Bakery.

Village Bakery's grand opening
Kit's shop is open! The opening ceremony was so sweet, it felt like you were invited to a family gathering.
They're selling only white sliced bread today but the full variety will be up on Monday. So don't forget to stop by for a loaf.

Village Bakery is open... for trial runs!
Buffalo Wilbur has been taking to peering into the glass doors of Village Bakery for the past month, willing it to open. So when we saw the sign, can you guess who was in there like a flash?
As this was a trial, it wasn't fully stocked. But what they had was so impressive we wanted to buy up the whole shop. In the end, we settled for a date and walnut loaf, minced beef bun, sausage roll and mango pudding.
They open at 7am so leave yourself some time to pop into the place for freshly baked breakfast before hopping on the ferry.
The Village Bakery is opposite the Hong Kong Jockey Club.

Kit the baker girl
Kit's very first batch of bread. In true village style, she went round Mui Wo offering samples to people she knew. We managed to score a super yummy fresh-from-the-oven roll.

Kit the baker is back!
The Kitchen has stopped baking fresh baguettes (in fact, it's stopped baking most breads) – which I think is a pity because that's what distinguishes it from the other restaurants in Mui Wo.
But never fear... because Kit, who used to bake bread for The Kitchen, is back after a stint at Michelin-starred restaurant Cepage.
She is setting up her own shop, The Village Bakery. It is on the quieter side of town, opposite the Jockey Club, but I'm sure it will be making its mark soon. Kit says she will start in August but you may have to wait a month before you can get your hands on her yummy baked goods.
Stay tuned!
