Sunny days in spring

You know spring is here when the bottle brush trees put up a great show...

... and there's been a run on chickens in the supermarket because everyone's out barbecuing.

Cheap crockery and cutlery

Red Hall shop in Silver Pearl Mansion is having a sale of crockery from a Tung Chung restaurant which has closed down.

The stuff is super cheap (porcelain plates for HK$16, cutlery for HK$5 each) and you can get some unusual things like nutcrackers, used for cracking crab claws, and escargot holders.

I was very tempted by the retro cup at HK$16 but, as Buffalo Wilbur pointed out, we already have far too many mugs. If you like it, I'd hurry because there's only one left.

School day

Sevens heaven

Every year, we've watched as Mario and his pals board the ferry home after a night of Sevens partying and told ourselves: "We really must try it sometime." The LKF party was as good an excuse as any.

Get your books at Bizzie Lizzie!

Bizzie Lizzie is hosting a book signing for Liina Klauss and Tania Willis this Saturday (March 24). She's promised activities for the kids, balloons, a lucky draw and some of her yummy popcorn so do turn up to support – and buy loads of books!

For every one of Liina's colouring books sold at the signing, one will be sent to a child at the tsunami-hit Fukushima Province in Japan.

And of course we should support our fellow Mui Wo-er (or is that Mui Wo-ian?) Tania, who does really lovely illustrations.

The Mui Wo municipal gardeners really do take a lot of pride in their work.

Love the spring hyacinths. The colours are really unusual.

Renge House now takes credit cards...

... which is bad news for Buffalo Wilbur cos it means I'll be spending waaaaay more than when it was cash only.

Especially since it's having a winter sale of woollens.
