Mui Wo's most unusual pets

Spotted these being taken for a walk today. They're four years old and simply adorable. Smartphones were out as these guys waddled (surprisingly fast) towards their meal.

Red tide

Such a waste that the beach has to be closed at a time of maximum visitors.

Easter flea market

Wondering what to do over the long weekend?
Buffalo Wilbur and I will be there masquerading as normal people. See you there!

It's raining again...

This has been my view on the ferry the past few days. Looks quite apocalyptic.

Speaking of apocalyptic rainstorms, have you seen this dramatic video of Sunday's black rainstorm by blogger Ka Ki Wong?

Sun-dried shallots

Paradise: when the sun is out and you have a whole square to dry your harvest.

Rush hour on the waterfall path

Lunch time in Mui Wo. Sometimes, the restaurants can get crowded real quickly...
... so be sure to get there early to pick your spot...
... especially when there's a traffic bottleneck.
This buffalo wasn't planning on going anywhere so the human hikers had to wait until he'd had enough of standing around looking macho.

Waitrose in Park N Shop

There are 1,383 white people in South Lantau, according to the 2011 census. It doesn't say how many of those (or non-whites) are from the UK but I'd guess quite a big proportion seeing how Park N Shop is now stocking up on Waitrose brands. Previously, if we wanted them, we had to hop over to Taste in Discovery Bay.

That's just the promotion shelf, though, so I'd suggest you stock up now just in case.

Anyone seen this soya sauce?

Buffalo Wilbur is addicted to the soya sauce used at the Thai restaurant so we persuaded them to let us take a look at the bottle. The chef was extremely protective of the sauce and insisted it wasn't for sale.

Does anyone know where we can get this in Hong Kong?

And of course more flea markets...

I've been getting a bit bored with posting. But never too bored to post pictures of flea markets. Here's the Discovery Bay one.
Even if it's just to show you what you missed...

Agnes b (slightly damaged) bracelet for HK$10... eat your heart out!

Look who came to Park N Shop

Here's why I love living in Hong Kong. You could be grocery shopping when, just as you reach for the milk, this happens:

Watchtower walk

We followed the map on my earlier post and actually made it to the Butterfly Hill watchtower.

It's not a very high hill but the views are well worth the walk. Here's a view of Wang Tong.
I think that's Luk Tei Tong.

From the watchtower, you can also see Pak Ngan Heung.

Picture perfect

Shhhh, artist at work. We observed from afar and his painting was good... I was tempted to buy it off him.
