Bebinca spoils the weekend

So we didn't go to Motion in the Ocean on Saturday because the weather report said rough seas and heavy rain. Only to find out they did go ahead with the event.

Then we went for the flea market only to see this sign:

Apparently it too even the sellers by surprise. They said they didn't know until they had lugged all their stuff to the plaza... by which time it was too late. But a flea market of sorts did still go on.

 Many enterprising sellers set up shop by the walkway.

 And under the umbrellas in the plaza.

It turned out to be surprisingly fun. And I managed to get some bargains as the sellers were just interested in ensuring they didn't have to lug all the stuff back again.

But don't forget, the flea market proper will be on June 30.

Weekend happenings

Really looking forward to the next few weeks. The Village Bakery's grand opening is this Sunday. I walked past there and saw they are already starting to blow up the balloons and put up buntings so don't forget to check out the party at 11am.

The Discovery Bay flea market is on September 22... a Saturday for once. But if you miss that, there's the Chapel Flea Market on October 1 and 2. This flea market is my absolute favourite. I can spend a while day there shifting through the clothes and knick knacks.

Vegging out

One thing good about travelling to and fro Mui Wo every weekend is that the pier to Mui Wo is just next to the Star Ferry Pier. It's a looooong walk to the pier but you're usually rewarded by somehing happening at the other end.

This week, we were early (for once) for the ferry so managed to catch the organic and fair-trade fair. It was super crowded so obviously many people make it a Sunday destination.

We bought some lovely baby peppers (red, green and orange) and chillies. The great thing about buying our vegetables straight from the source is that psychologically, they seem to taste better (the veg, not the farmers). The only drawback... don't be caught without your own shopping bag. The fair is so green you feel like so eco-incompetent asking for a bag to cart all your goodies.
