Watchtower walk

We followed the map on my earlier post and actually made it to the Butterfly Hill watchtower.

It's not a very high hill but the views are well worth the walk. Here's a view of Wang Tong.
I think that's Luk Tei Tong.

From the watchtower, you can also see Pak Ngan Heung.

Picture perfect

Shhhh, artist at work. We observed from afar and his painting was good... I was tempted to buy it off him.

Map to Butterfly Hill watchtower

Reproduced with kind permission of Andrew Wood. But he wants to point out that he doesn't own the copyright to the aerial photos or contour map so please don't duplicate.

Mui Wo's abandoned buildings

Now that winter is here, the undergrowth has died down, making exploring abandoned buildings around Mui Wo so much easier. This used to be a tea house.

Path to Butterfly Hill.

Goes past a house that looks like it was in the process of being renovated before being abandoned again.

You get great views of Mui Wo town from Butterfly Hill. This Yuen family grave probably has the best feng shui in all of Mui Wo.

Not quite Angkor Wat but close.

Would be a great spot for fashion photography... if you can face humping all that equipment up a slippery and overgrown path.
The houses are pretty creepy, though, so I would advise you to try exploring them in full daylight.

Get your greens

Silverview Centre may just be turning into the trendier part of town. A new yoga and pilates studio has taken over the former antique shop and now a new shop selling organic vegetables and fruit juices has opened there too.

Allan, who runs it, is really friendly and can advise you on what's new in stock. He said his boss is part of a Tai O family, so you can also get the famous shrimp paste and dried seafood at the shop too.
Fruit juices are HK$22 (add HK$6 for mixed fruits). I had the grape juice and I could taste all that antioxidants just coursing down my veins.

If you're facing the dimsum restaurant, the shop will be to your right.

Winter shoe sale!

Octavia and her Italian sample shoes are back! Her pop-up shop is the former Mui Wo Bike Shop between Renge House and Lantau Base Camp. I was so excited I got there before she had unpacked everything.

She has loads of Size 40 and 41 winter boots available.  So for you Cinderellas out there, better make inroads. There were crowds just two hours in, with people grabbing straight from the boxes. She's selling Italian leather boots for around HK$400.
The shop is opened until January 23.

New veg and juice shop

But I really don't know where it is. Near the Silvermine Beach Resort at a guess? This needs more investigation.
